Synopsis

After living the first fifty-some years of his life in the slow comfort of small Southern towns, photographer and playwright, Terry Roueche decides he wants to go to France to visit his relatives. The thing is, his closest connection to the French Roueches is his great, great, great grandfather who immigrated to the United State in 1835.

Notwithstanding, his will to connect with an unknown past drives him to make contact with people of the same name all over France. Shortly thereafter, twenty families respond, appointments are made, and doors all over France open wide for him.

As he travels across two continents, the film takes a tender, humorous, and human look at the differences and similarities between people separated by time and, more importantly, culture.

At a time when our world appears to be getting smaller yet people growing further and further apart, the film reminds us that we are all still one big family separated only by imaginary lines on the ground.
